5 3ml vial of 50mg Epithalon
Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon or Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide (composed of four amino acids: alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and glycine) that is derived from epithalamin, a natural peptide extracted from the pineal gland. It was first synthesized in the 1980s by a research team in Russia led by Professor Vladimir Khavinson.
Epithalon is primarily studied for its potential anti-aging and longevity-promoting effects. It’s thought to work by activating telomerase, an enzyme that helps maintain the length of telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes. Telomere shortening is associated with cellular aging and dysfunction, so preventing or reversing this process could potentially slow down aging.
Reported effects and research areas
- Anti-aging and longevity: May increase lifespan in animals and reduce mortality in elderly humans, possibly through telomerase activation and other mechanisms.
- Circadian rhythm regulation: May restore melatonin secretion and normalize circadian rhythms, potentially improving sleep.
- Immune system modulation: May regulate immune responses and inflammation.
- Anti-tumor activity: Has been observed to decrease tumor growth and prevent metastasis in rats.
- Retinal health: Studies suggest potential benefits for age-related retinal degeneration.
- Cardiovascular health: May improve lipid metabolism and reduce hypertension.
Important considerations
- Research status: While research shows promising results, particularly in animal and in vitro studies, independent confirmation of the lifespan extension findings has been lacking.
- Availability: Epithalon is often sold as a “research chemical” and is not intended for human use unless under the guidance of a licensed handler.
- Side Effects: Potential side effects may include mild injection site reactions, fatigue, and digestive discomfort.
